GRADE LEVEL: 5th Grade Science<= o:p>

 

 

OBJECTIVE: Describe how weather conditions are measured.

 

 

DESCRIPTION: Students will record daily weather conditions

 

(temperature, precipitation, humidity, air pressure, et= c.) for a

 

week. They will create a chart to display their information and

 

share the chart with classmates.       

 

 

TECHNOLOGY ACTIVITIES:

 

1) Internet- Go to local websites to record daily weather conditions, such as = www.wkrg.com= .

 

2) Excel- Create weather chart using Microsoft Excel.

 

3) Overhead Projector- Copy chart onto a transparency and show classmates using overhead projector.

TITLE: Human Body Systems

 

 

GRADE LEVEL: 5th Grade Science<= o:p>

 

 

OBJECTIVE: Identify the functions and major organs of the

 

human body systems.

 

 

DESCRIPTION: Students will view a slide show about human

 

body systems. They will work in groups to research one of the

 

ten body systems. Each group will create a presentation about

TECHNOLOGY ACTIVITIES:

 

1) Internet- Go to www.= biomedonline.org to view the slide show on human body systems. =

 

2) Power Point- Create the presentation using Microsoft Power Point.

 

3) Promethean Board- Present Power Point using Promethean Board.

OBJECTIVE: Create a biography.

 

 

DESCRIPTION: Students will research a former U.S. president.

 

Using their research, each student will write a biography about

 

their president and develop a plan for presenting their

 

biography.

 

 

TECHNOLOGY ACTIVITIES:

 

1) Internet- Research the life of a U.S. president.

 

2) Video camera- Videotape biography presentation.

 

3) VCR and/or Television- Display and watch president presentation.=

TITLE: Measurement

 

 

GRADE LEVEL: 5th Grade Math

 

 

OBJECTIVE: Measure objects using customary and metric

 

systems.

 

 

DESCRIPTION: Students will measure various objects using a

 

customary and metric ruler. They will discuss t= he advantages

 

and disadvantages of both measurement sys= tems and create a  

 

brochure about one.

 

 

TECHNOLOGY ACTIVITIES:

 

1) Microsoft Word- Print out various clip art obje= cts. =

 

2) Promethean Board- Measure objects using the rulers in the Promethean progra= m.

 

3) Microsoft Publisher- Create a brochure that lists the advantages of using o= nly the customary or metric system.

TITLE: Map Skills

 

 

GRADE LEVEL: 5th Grade Reading=

 

 

OBJECTIVE: Use map skills to locate places.

 

 

DESCRIPTION: Students will locate directions from point A to

 

point B. They will then choose a starting p= oint and ending point

 

between two places at school. Using pictures, they will create a

 

set of  directions.

 

 

TECHNOLOGY ACTIVITIES:

 

1) Internet- Locate directions using www.mapquest.com. <= /p>

 

2) Digital Camera- Take pictures of significant “landmarks”(at school) for directions.

 

3) Microsoft Power Point- Put pictures in a Power Point slide to show directio= ns.
