Lesson Title: A says “a”<= /span>

Objective: Match corresponding vowels and the= ir sounds.

Description: This activity is focused on studen= ts who have not grasped the letter sound correspondence. These activities will allow studen= ts multiple opportunities see and hear the sounds.

= 1.&n= bsp; The teacher= will model how to use a tape recorder with an attached microphone. The students will read the sounds = from the sound chart into the microphone out loud so that their group members can hear them. The group members = will either give thumbs up for approval or thumbs dow= n for try again.

= 2.&n= bsp; The student= s will be given an opportunity to use an interactive phonics learning desk, where = they have to touch the given letter and listen to the sound the letter makes.

= 3.&n= bsp; The student= will be paired with a peer tutor, who will call certain letters previously given from the teacher, and the student will write the letters on the overhead projector to see the letter formation and match to the appropriate sound.

Lesson Title: Where Does It Belong

Objective: Classify and sort objects accordin= g to certain characteristics.

Description: This activity allows for students = to observe characteristics of objects around them, form categories, and sort t= he objects accordingly. The teacher has divided the students into four groups,= and issued each group 5 words.

= 1.&n= bsp; Students wi= ll use the internet to find pictures of the words issued to them. The students will choose pictures = then print the pictures out.

= 2.&n= bsp; The student= s will also be required to use the digital camera to take a picture of at least on= e of the words the teacher issued. Once the picture has been taken the teacher will allow the students to print the digital pictures from the camera dock.

= 3.&n= bsp; The student= s will be required to place the pictures on a category map designed by the teacher. After all have been = placed the captain from each group will take a category and use the class scanner = to scan the pictures and print them on an overhead transparency. Each group will complete this task= until all categories have been placed on transparencies, then the presentations of the categories will begin.

Lesson Title: Multiplicity

Objective: The students will learn that multiplication is repeated addition and apply concepts = .

Description: In this activity the students will= have an opportunity to use technology to discover how multiplication and addition are related.

= 1.&n= bsp; The teacher= will model for the students how to use a calculator on the overhead projector. The students will then use their calculator and follow the steps the teacher gives with a given number. For example, press the # 2, then press the + key, the pre= ss the # 2 again and observe and discuss the changes we notice. Allow the students to have additio= nal practice with several numbers then show them the multiplication fact for the number and compare the addition way with the multiplication way.=

= 3.&n= bsp; The teacher= will model how to use the multiplication game Factor Frenzy at the beginner level of difficulty. The children will use this table t= op mat to practice buzzing in and answering math fact questions. This is a competition were the first to buzz in the answer wins.

Lesson Title: Simply a Sentence

Grade level: K-1^=

Objective: Use basic = sight words to construct simple sentences.

Description: This activity allows for the stude= nts to have frequent practice and usage with previously learned sight words.<= /o:p>

= 1.&n= bsp; The teacher= will give the students 2 of the basic sight words from the Dolch list. The students will write simple sen= tences with the words. The students = will then have an opportunity to use Microsoft Word to type their sentences. Once the sentences have been typed= the teacher will allow the students to print their sentences on the printer.

= 2.&n= bsp; The student= s will use reading rods to build sentences then place them in the Reading Mentor to check if the sentence they built is correctly formed. The reading mentor will read the sentence back to the student.

= 3.&n= bsp; ELL student= s will use the English Language Learner Beginning Phonics Listen, Chant, and Sing! CD to say sentences. Once they have heard the CD, the students will use a hand held micro recorder to read and record the sentences fr= om the big book of the chant they previously heard. The students will then play the recording for a peer or teacher to check their language and sentence usage.=

Lesson Title: Now You See It

Objective: Observe and discuss microorganisms in the environment.

Description: This activity allows for the stude= nts use technology to observe and discuss tiny microorganisms such as a germ, bacteria, and small bugs.

= 1.&n= bsp;    After a les= son on germs the students will use primary microscopes to observe and discuss a ge= rm sample that they have collected and placed on a slide.

= 2.&n= bsp;    The student= s will respond to a class assessment from a power point presentation from the teac= her on living organisms. The teac= her will use the Turning Point Student Response System, and the students will choose their answers with their assigned response cards. Once the assessment is over the te= acher will graph the responses without acknowledging their names.

= 3.&n= bsp;    The student= s will access the internet to conduct and search for germs, bacteria, and microorganisms. The students = will use the information to create a Microsoft power point presentation on the information collected. The st= udents will use the smart board to present their power point to the entire class.<= o:p>
